Everyone is so excited for Victoria's 2024 Bicentennial celebration, and we want to give the youth of our community a chance to show just how much they love our historic city! Enter into the Bicentennial Poster Contest and show us your creative side for a chance to win gift card prizes and a chance to be featured in our Bicentennial coloring book, coming out this Summer!
Students in grades K-8 from any public, private, and home school are invited to showcase their bicentennial spirit in the Victoria Texas Bicentennial Poster Contest.
This opportunity allows students to capture the essence of "200 Years of Life in the City of Victoria" through original artwork.
All artwork must portray how the City of Victoria has grown over the last 200 years and what the student envisions the future of Victoria could be. There will be winners in each category:
- K-1st grade – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
- 2nd-3rd grade – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
- 4th-5th grade – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
- 6th – 8th grade – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
The City will accept entries from March 11 to March 28. Any student in any public, private, or home school may submit an entry. Entries may be dropped off at the Explore Victoria Visitor Center at 700 N. Main St, Suite 101 open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Each student will only be allowed to submit one design that must be submitted on a 28” x 22” poster board. The bicentennial judging committee will then select winners and two runners-up from each grade category, totaling 12 winners.
Three winners from each age group will receive prizes for being chosen. First-place winners will receive a trophy and $250 VISA gift card, second-place winners will receive a certificate and a $100 VISA gift card, and third-place winners will receive a certificate and a $50 VISA gift card.
The top winners will also have the chance to participate in a video interview with City Communications staff, which will be broadcast on local government cable channels 15 and 115 and posted to the bicentennial website and City social media channels.
All first-place winners will be recognized at a City Council meeting and on April 13, Victoria's celebratory bicentennial date.
Submissions will be selected and showcased in an exhibition at the VISD Fine Arts Center, which will be open for public viewing once the contest concludes.
